CBS News anchor, Mark Koelbel from KUTV, had the audience in hysterics during a Utah Business awards luncheon for CXO of The Year. Why? One of the event sponsors was…PigeonShip. Apparently the audience really enjoyed the inside joke with our name.

Here’s how it went down:

“We’d also like to thank…. I better not get this one wrong. PigeonShip?”

(audience laughter)

“PigeonShip!?”

(audience laughter)

“I’ve heard your radio ads too, by the way.”

(audience laughter)

“We’d also like to thank PigeonShip for awarding each of our honorees with crowdshipping credits. Let’s thank them for that.”

You can see video of Koelbel on state at Utah Business’ 2015 “CXO Of The Year” awards below:

3 Ways The Express Shipping Industry is Harming The Environment

$

Need something delivered fast? From last minute gifts to important business documents, we all use express shipping services from time to time. But did you know that express shipping is one of the most damaging daily activities impacting our environment?

Here are 3 ways that the express shipping industry is damaging the environment.

01) Unnecessary Distances

With traditional shipping methods, your package doesn’t go directly from the pickup location to the destination. The journey of the average express package might include stops at a variety of locations, like sorting facilities. Most packages will travel a wondering zig-zag of additional stops and locations before reaching its final destination. The end result is an unnecessary impact on the environment.

Unlike FedEx, PigeonShip was environmentally friendly from day #1. We utilize couriers, or Pigeons, that are already traveling in the direction of your package. No sorting facilities. No unnecessary stops. Pigeons accept packages already on their way to their destinations.

02) Unnecessary Packaging

Because of the bulk handling process, and volume of items that companies like UPS, USPS and FedEx deliver, they have customers package up their items using materials like cardboard, plastic bubble wrap and styrofoam — Except for New York City residents. Mayor Bill de Blasio banned styrofoam on July 1, 2015.

PigeonShip doesn’t require any packaging. You don’t need to box, bag or even pack your items at all. Just hand the item your Pigeon and off they go. If everyone used PigeonShip for their deliveries, just image how much less styrofoam we’d have in our landfills right now.

03) Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Although hope is on the horizon, express delivery companies generally don’t use fuel efficient vehicles. Most delivery trucks, especially in the United States, are large diesel guzzling monsters. And these vehicles emit a concerning amount of emissions every day contributing to the carbon footprint of your package. Even though FedEx has committed to reducing aircraft emissions by 2030, using EarthSmart vehicles and making their fleet more efficient, these changes are still years away from being implemented on a large scale and making any real difference.

Using PigeonShip helps reduce the carbon footprint of your delivery item to practically zero. Not only do we connect you to a Pigeon already traveling in the direction of your delivery, but according to our database, PigeonShip’s fleet is full of fuel efficient cars, including hybrids and electrics like the Tesla.

On a macro-level, it’s upsetting to think about the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions caused by the shipping industry each year. We love seeing pictures of our users delivering PigeonShip items in vehicles like Tesla MotorsModel S, Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf and the Toyota Prius.

Together we’re helping the environment one PigeonShip delivery at a time. Let’s keep it up!

There’s nothing worse than forgetting your keys or wallet at home when you go out. But that’s nothing compared to the uneasy feeling of knowing you lost something… like your wallet. Good thing PigeonShip was able to help save the day for one lucky Utah resident.

Nora Anderson works for Clarke Capital in Provo, Utah an investment firm dedicated to building and growing successful companies. Nora’s sister came to visit her at work, later that day when her sister arrived back in Logan she realized she had left her wallet at Nora’s office.

Rather than have her sister drive back to Provo from Logan, Nora PigeonShipped the wallet. It arrived that same day and neither Nora or her sister had to take any unwanted trips.

Get your Tesla PigeonShipped to you!

Elon Musk gives Utah’s Start-up, PigeonShip, a shot to become the top referring Tesla partner.

Starting now through October 31st, PigeonShip will be given authorization to discount the Model S for Utah Residents.  With recent introduction of the Model S 70, an all-wheel drive vehicle, interest from Utah residents has climbed significantly.

Unfortunately Tesla does not have a Utah based showroom for test-driving, which can make the decision to make the purchase a bit more difficult.  PigeonShip, however, will allow any Utah resident to test drive their PigeonShip Tesla.  PigeonShip hopes this ability to finally allow Utah residents to test drive, may bridge the gap between wanting a Tesla and finally purchasing a Tesla.

PigeonShip is a crowd sourced, person to person,  pick up and delivery service.  In just a few short months, the PigeonShip delivery fleet is larger than UPS.  By the end of 2016, PigeonShip believes they will have a minimum of 50,000 couriers throughout the US, and will encourage drivers to transition into a Telsa.

  1. Personalized delivery for everyone:

     Personalized delivery for everyone

PigeonShip is a personalized delivery service. Fedex will not deliver a pizza from your favorite takeaway restaurant, but PigeonShip will. There are aspects to PigeonShip which turns it into a shipping solution not just for any businesses, but also for your everyday. You can literally ship your pants through PigeonShip if you forget your pants to work.

  1. Flexible timing for your delivery needs:

Flexible timing for your delivery needs

PigeonShip provides you flexibility in scheduling your delivery. We let you choose when you want your item to be picked up and by what time you want it to be delivered. You can get same day delivery, next day delivery and even next week delivery through PigeonShip’s flexible time scheduling functionality.

  1. We do deliveries on weekends too:

     Delivery on weekends

Your business shipping needs does not stop on weekends, nor does your personal delivery needs. An urgent business order can come anytime and so does cravings for a Cafe Rio Meal. Do not limit your business or yourself on weekends when it comes to delivery needs. Avoid the trip, PigeonShip!

  1. Pay according to your needs:

     Cheap and Reliable delivery service

Yes, that’s right. PigeonShip lets you decide your own price for your delivery needs. Don’t end up overpaying for getting stuff delivered by Fedex or UPS. Use PigeonShip and decide your own price that you are ready to pay for the delivery. If you do not have the budget of paying the exorbitant prices of the gas guzzling shipping companies, come to us and we will let you post your item with a price decided by you.

  1. Classifieds Delivery:

     Classifieds Delivery

This has definitely been missing. No more!  PigeonShip delivers your classified purchase right to your doorstep and also gives you an option of returning the classified item if you do not like it. Flexibility now exists when purchasing items on classifieds because you just avoided a trip with PigeonShip.

  1. Specialized in-state delivery:

     Delivery service in utah

PigeonShip specializes in deliveries within the State.  No other service can give a better response time to your delivery postings than PigeonShip.  We have a bigger fleet of Pigeons (Deliverers) in the state of Utah than UPS which, makes us offer same day delivery and next day deliveries as well at rock bottom prices.

  1. Reliable deliverers making your life easy:

     best delivery app

The Pigeons who are picking up your package are simply running daily errands and commuting around the city like we do, however, Pigeons must also go through a training program and provide proper documentation before they get approved as a Pigeon (Deliverer). So if a question pops up in your mind who will be delivering my package, no need to worry. Pigeons also receive a feedback rating which they obviously do not want to jeopardize and lose out on the extra earnings they receive from PigeonShip.

  1. Be a savior of the environment by reducing carbon footprint:

Peer to peer shipping and delivery service

Did you ever wonder how much carbon footprint gas guzzling delivery trucks leave behind? Yes, we do worry about that as well. On the other hand PigeonShip utilises the resources already available. A student has to go to University and a Mom has to drop her kids off at school, so we utilize such resources which are available and simply match them to your delivery preferences.

  1. Reduce the price of goods and still make the same profit:

how to decrease your shipping expenses

If you are a business, you can increase your sales by reducing the price of the commodity as you save so much by using PigeonShip. A restaurant spending 25$ on delivery can bring it down to 10$ per delivery easily through PigeonShip. A warehouse can get rid of their delivery fleet and utilise the already existing PigeonShip fleet of deliverers and decrease their overhead expenses. We did our math and you save up to 75% on delivery expenses for your business while using PigeonShip.

  1. Earn money while running errands:

peer to peer shipping - earn money while running errands

Sign Up as a Pigeon and start earning while running errands. PigeonShip not only covers your gas but also makes you extra income doing the things you do everyday. Pick up and deliver an item on your way back from Salt Lake City and add 25$ to your pockets or add 50$ while coming back from St George. It is as easy as it sounds.

  1. PigeonShip: Deliver items on the go:

PigeonShip on Android, PigeonShip on iOS

PigeonShip is present over multiple platforms. One can use our delivery services on the website as well as the Android and iOS app, which makes it available to you at all times, whether you are in the office, at home or on the road. PigeonShip is available to you at all times, so send items on the go with PigeonShip.

The Ultimate Cheat Sheet To Using Peer To Peer Delivery Services

$
0
0

The recent buzz created by Amazon planning to adopt Peer To Peer Delivery has created a buzz in the world of startups with people coming up with Crowdsourced Delivery or Peer to Peer Delivery networks.
As easy as it seems we would like to give out a few tips on making the best out of Peer to Peer Delivery companies. PigeonShip having an experience of working in Peer to Peer Delivery network from 2013, when people were not even thinking if such technology would be possible, this is the guide from the experts.

  1. Business Shipping:                      delivery service for businesses

Peer to peer delivery service not only accommodates your business shipping needs but also reduces the cost of your shipping by 70%. Though, a complete dependence on peer to peer delivery network should be avoided. There might not be a person ready to deliver your item at the exact moment. If your business shipping needs are flexible, eg: e-commerce, warehouses, car parts and accessories etc, peer to peer delivery is the way to go ahead. The food delivery needs to take care of the timings. If the network of shippers or deliverers is well laid out the restaurant should promise the delivery in 1 hour or 1 and a half hour. If it is not it should be at least 2 hours or more depending on the population of deliverers travelling on a regular basis in that particular area. Such insights can be easily obtained by the experts like PigeonShip which will help you plan out your delivery promise.

  1. Secure shipping:                          safe and secure shipping

One has to realise that peer to peer delivery is delivering your items by an unknown person travelling in the same direction. Thus, when you choose a peer to peer delivery network you should be careful about the shipping network you are partnering with. The shipping network should be reliable and should have a history in crowdshipping. PigeonShip runs all it’s deliverers which it calls Pigeons through a background check, documentation and training to ensure the pigeons or deliverers are reliable people and there is no risk getting the items shipped from them. As a business or an individual you can always come up with security techniques of your own. Clicking a picture of the item while sending it and asking the person receiving it to verify it with the picture is one of the techniques one should use. This can be a boom for the food industry. The sealed food packet should reach as it is to ensure the food is safe and have not been enjoyed by the deliverer first. .

  1. Shipping expensive and perishable goods:        shipping expensive items

You should avoid shipping perishable and expensive goods. Moreover, we do not have to tell you to not ship a diamond ring through a Peer To Peer Shipping Network, you will obviously be inviting the risk of getting cheated if you do that. There are a few shipping companies like PigeonShip, which keep the item anonymous till the time a deliverer accepts the item, so a Pigeon or a deliverer genuinely accepts the item to deliver it and not with an intention of fleeing with it. Though a deliverer has the right to know what he/she is delivering in order to ensure their own security.

  1. Measuring your options on the basis of time availability:                                       same day delivery

There are a few calculations and logics you will have to apply when it comes to utilising the best out of peer to peer shipping. There are times when UPS or Fedex can deliver your item at a cheaper price than the peer to peer delivery service. It is very simple, if you require the item the same day (Same Day Delivery), UPS and Fedex can never do that, simply Crowdship your item in such case. Secondly, if you are flexible deadlines to get the item delivered you can always put the item to a Peer To Peer Delivery Network like PigeonShip at a price cheaper than FedEx or UPS. The size of the item is another criteria. Usually to ship an item which is large and needs a truck to be delivered will cost a lot to be shipped through gas guzzling traditional shipping companies, though a company like PigeonShip you deliver it for half the price because of the vast network PigeonShip has of the people with Trucks. The distance of delivery is another factor. A UPS or Fedex will never do local deliveries for you, you will have to do it yourself or hire somebody to do it for you which will definitely require your precious time and money. Simply Crowdship your item if it is a local delivery as there are people commuting around the city all the time. Someone will come pick up your item and deliver it right at the address where you want it delivered.

  1. Show off your environmental friendly side:      environmental friendly peer to peer shipping

The best part of using Peer To Peer Shipping Service is you are reducing the pressure on gas guzzling traditional shipping companies which eventually results in the reduction of carbon footprint. No wonder you are being more responsible towards the environment with every item you crowd-ship, so why not show it off and earn some extra credits and goodwill.

  1. Expand your business with Crowdshipping:      peer to peer delivery service

Without incurring the cost of establishing a home delivery service, your business can do it with crowdshipping. Promise home deliveries like a pro with crowdshipping services like PigeonShip. Turn your take away restaurant into a delivery restaurant or turn your apparel store into an online apparel store that does home deliveries like ebay or amazon. It is as simple as it sounds. Offer your product to the doorstep of a customer and double your sales with peer to peer shipping networks.

  1. Pay only when you are satisfied:                        peer to peer shipping

Unlike any traditional shipping companies, crowdshipping companies do not charge you till the time you are satisfied with the service. Eg: when you receive an item through PigeonShip and you feel that the item has been played with or the quality of the service was not good, you can avoid giving the security transaction code with you in order to avoid getting charged for an unsatisfactory service. Unlike traditional shipping companies, the technologically driven ventures care more about the customer service than minting money.  PigeonShip’s CEO Jared Overton personally takes care of every customer service issue in order to ensure the best solution.

  1.   Shipping solution for everything:

    crowdshipping for everything

As Peer To Peer Delivery involves interaction between two individuals, you can trim it according to your own needs. A warehouse uses it in its own way and a restaurant can use it in it’s own way. It is different for the personal needs of an individual and completely different for business shipping needs.

We hope the cheat sheet will help you better utilise the services of PigeonShip or any other peer to peer delivery service.

Cheers!

Do you wonder how much easier our life would be if someone always delivered our food to our doorstep. We hope the title intrigues you to know why Kim Kardashian will never be good at delivering food and how you can get your food delivered from your favorite restaurant – anytime, anywhere!

1. Kim May Never Deliver Our Order

Kim Kardashian With Food

Let’s be honest, Kim has no financial incentive to deliver our food, so if she likes what we order, she might just keep it and eat it.

2. Kanye already delivers food for PigeonShip

Kanye West with a bag

If Kanye is out delivering food, somebody has to stay home to take care of the baby.

3. PigeonShip? Does She Even Know?

Untitled-3

PigeonShip has started to deliver food in Utah to anyone, anywhere and anytime. Because Kim is yet to have food PigeonShipped to her, she has no idea about this remarkable service.  Celebrities like Kim avoid eating out at their favorite restaurant in an effort to maintain privacy. However, this limits Kim’s choice of home delivery to Pizza. PigeonShip now offers Kim the ability to have her food delivered to her doorstep anytime and anywhere.

4. Kim still uses a Blackberry

Blackberry Kim

With the advent of delivery apps, Kim is still stuck with her Dinosaur BlackBerry. She will have to change her cellphone in order to become an efficient food deliverer.

That is what we assume is the reason why Kim will never be good at Food Deliveries. Tweet with the hashtag #freefooddelivery if you can think of more legit reasons why Kim will never be good at Food Deliveries.

All the Kim Kardashian fans out there, we are giving you a unique opportunity to get in touch with Kim Kardashian and requesting her to Sign Up as a Pigeon on PigeonShip. Maybe the next item you post will be accepted by Kim Kardashian.

We have a special give away to all the Utahns if you can make Kim Kardashian sign up as a Pigeon. If Kim becomes a Pigeon we promise to give away free food delivery for a week with PigeonShip.

*Kim Kardashian has not approved this and we have no affiliation with Kim Kardashian or Kanye West

  3. Type in the item details and the price you are willing to pay for delivery.
  4. Click the Submit button.

Once you’ve posted an item, you should receive a confirmation of acceptance from a Pigeon within 15 minutes of posting the item. Coordinate with the Pigeon and get your item PigeonShipped to you.

When can I use PigeonShip?

PigeonShip is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

What places is PigeonShip available in?

PigeonShip is currently available in Utah and the neighboring states. We will be present all over United States by the end of this year.

What can I have delivered with PigeonShip?

We deliver almost everything. We have Pigeons who drive big trucks and can help you move as well. Moreover, if it is an item in a store or a food item in a restaurant in your city, we can deliver it. So order your favorite food from any takeaway restaurant and get it PigeonShipped to you. If you forgot your keys at home, we can deliver that as well.

Who makes the deliveries?

We call our couriers, Pigeons. Pigeons are commuters, they have jobs outside of PigeonShip. They are simply delivering packages going to and from work. A Pigeon can be a professor at the university or a software developer at Adobe. A Pigeon earns extra money on his commute and you get access to a reliable, quick and same day delivery service.

What do Pigeons Drive?

Pigeons are driving their personal vehicles when delivering packages. It can be a truck, a car, a trailer or a sports car. A Pigeon accepts the package only if he has a suitable sized car to make the delivery.

How much does it cost?

Delivery fees start at $10 and are determined by the distance from pick-up to drop-off, size of the item and the urgency of the delivery task.

Why do I see an the charges on my credit card?

When you request a delivery, we temporarily authorize your credit card for the delivery total. Once your delivery is complete, we replace the authorization with final charges. This change is typically reflected within 48 hours of the delivery, though some cards take 3-4 business days to process the change.

How do I decide the price of an item?

There is a simple way to decide the price you should pay for an item. Put yourself in the shoes of a Pigeon and assume the package delivery job is on your way. Will you do it for the estimated price, considering the distance you will be taking it, the size of the item and the urgency of the delivery job.

How do you decide who accepts my delivery?

Pigeons in your area get notified with the pickup and drop off address of the delivery task. If a Pigeon is going that way, he will accept it. You will notice packages getting accepted really fast on busy routes than the unusual ones.

Can I request a specific Pigeon?

Yes, you can add a Pigeon to your Circle in your profile. This will notify the Pigeon in your circle on a priority basis, which will eventually make him accept the package faster than the other Pigeons.

What if I need to contact my Pigeon?

The contact details of a Pigeon are shared with you once the Pigeon has accepted your package. You can call him and coordinate the delivery.

Does PigeonShip deliver to commercial addresses?

Absolutely. We will deliver anywhere and anytime. Whether it be your office or your home or an amusement park where you lost your car keys. Just enter detailed drop off locations and our Pigeon will find you.

How do you hire your Pigeons?

All Pigeons go through a Sign Up process which includes knowing about their routes and running a background check as well. Our Pigeons are people just like you running errands, going to work and delivering items to make extra money.

Can I apply to become a Pigeon?

Yes, we would love that! You can submit a pigeon application here: pigeonship.com/signup

What if my delivery takes longer than usual?

If your delivery does not get delivered by the desired delivery date or time, we will refund you the delivery fees.

Can I send items to someone in a different city from where I am located?

Yes! you can send items across states as well. We have delivered packages from Salt Lake to San Diego and from Las Vegas to Provo. The charges for the longer delivery will definitely be more than local deliveries but it will be much lesser than traditional shipping companies for sure because our Pigeons are going that way already.

Can I get items from Classifieds delivered?

Yes, go to any classifieds website. Eg, Craigslist or KSL Classifieds and make an offer through www.pigeonship.com/classifieds and you will be able to buy and get the item delivered through PigeonShip from any classifieds website.

Still need help or have questions about your order?

Please send a note to support@pigeonship.com and we will get back to you shortly!

How To Solve The Biggest Problems With Crowdsourced Delivery

$
0
0

This is a case study of PigeonShip, a pioneer in crowdsourced delivery service in order to solve the biggest problems with Crowdsourced Delivery.

No wonder Crowdsourced Delivery Services are the future of Delivery System. There is no denying the fact that there are ample resources and cars with free space running on our freeways that will make the traditional shipping companies obsolete. The need of the hour is building the right network to ensure delivery of items on a timely basis.
There are tons of apps promising a great peer to peer delivery solution but are they reliable enough. If you go through those apps there are a lot of items which nobody accepted, even when they offer the right value for a crowdsourced delivery platform. Who do you think is to be blamed. The price that a sender is offering or the network the delivery company forgot or ignored to build before letting you access that facility.
The essence of peer to peer delivery service is helping people earn on their commute or to make their commute free of cost and to ship items on a priority basis without incurring the charges of express delivery.

Here are a few things PigeonShip is working on to provide a seemless crowdsourced delivery experience.

1. Restricting Impossible Deliveries

PigeonShip does not let you post an item for $20 from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas, as it does not provide the right value to a deliverer. Therefore, the chances of such a package getting accepted is next to impossible. A deliverer will not take the hassle of delivering such a package. Therefore there are minimum delivery charges that a person will have to incur in order to ship a package on a long route. The minimum being $10 for a small route with PigeonShip and increases with the distance and the urgency of the delivery.

Mission-Impossible-5-Things-to-Know-About-Deliveries-and-Disasters

2. Training For The Deliverers

Item delivery is a responsibility that a person takes, even when it is crowdsourced. The deliverers need to realize the responsibility they have taken when they accepted to deliver a package. PigeonShip has a training module that every deliverer (Pigeon) has to go through in order to be able to accept and deliver packages. The training includes modules for different kind of items. Whether it be food delivery or delivering a jacuzzi, there are different protocols that a Pigeon follows while delivering the same.

Aaron

3. Business Deliveries

Business deliveries solved through Crowdsourced delivery‘ does that seem impossible? With PigeonShip it is not. PigeonShip’s web app is designed in a way that it can take care of your business deliveries easily. It is easy to integrate PigeonShip into your business platform. PigeonShip is also coming up with POS app which will be ready by the end of November, simply install PigeonShip plugin in your POS and deliver items with the click of a button like you do for UPS or FedEx. A business like a restaurant delivers on average 20 items in a day. Running a delivery platform in a restaurant costs like $10,000 a month at least and with PigeonShip you get it done with less than $5000 dollars a month. Cutting down the cost to half with the same.

iStock_000008648439Small-610x380

4. Delivery Confirmations

A delivery confirmation system is something every crowdsourced delivery is trying to figure out, since FedEx and UPS have their palm pads taking care of it, for a crowdsourced delivery platform to bring that in place is tricky. PigeonShip has come up with a solution which is a 4 digit code which works as a confirmation for the delivery job. Moreover, PigeonShip is trying to make it easy for businesses to use PigeonShip as a business will not entertain getting confirmation calls from deliverers all the time, they will rather be looking for automation, so a confirmation system based on delivery confirmation documents is being developed right now, which should be out in 3 weeks. A deliverer uploads the delivery documents signed by the receiver on the PigeonShip platform which a Business Sender can go through and confirm the delivery on their portal leading to triggering the payment for the deliverer, in case of PigeonShip a Pigeon.

5. Smart Partnerships

Without a complete acceptance from the public for a crowdsourced delivery solution it gets difficult to earn the trust of the general public when it comes to ensuring the delivery quality. PigeonShip partners with companies all around United States, which ensures delivery of every item posted on PigeonShip’s portal in time. Earning the trust of the public in terms of reliability. PigeonShip literally goes an extra mile in order to ensure every item posted gets delivered in a timely manner. Therefore, PigeonShip has never had a package that is not delivered in the course of their operations.

6. What Price Should I Pay

A crowdsourced delivery works on flexible pricing but in order to live by the express shipping value that PigeonShip lives by, PigeonShip automatically populates the price that a Sender should be paying for a particular item. That removes the confusion that you have to go through when it comes to thinking of a price to pay. We do advise to bump up the price a little if the item requires a truck to be delivered or if it a very urgent delivery job. With our recent testimonials from companies, we have found that we have been able to decrease their delivery expense by 50%. Isn’t that amazing?

7. Security – No Problem

When it comes to crowdsourced delivery the biggest question that comes up is the security. What if a deliverer flees with my item? What if he breaks it? That is one genuine question that most of the peer to peer delivery startups fail to answer but not PigeonShip.
PigeonShip has a unique way of ensuring the security of the packages. PigeonShip segregates the packages on the basis of the size and does not reveal what is inside the package or what the item is till the time a deliverer or pigeon goes to pick it up. It eliminates the people fishing for expensive goods on crowdsourced platforms ready to flee with them. Therefore, every package gets accepted by a Pigeon with a true intent of delivering it. Moreover, PigeonShip personally ensures every item upto $500 in order to earn the trust.

Utah Gets A New Delivery Service For Restaurants

Delivery. Delivery. Delivery. It’s been impossible to avoid the headlines in the past several months. It seems as if everybody wants to enter the delivery game. Delivery, after all, is a great way to drive revenue within an existing infrastructure. With the rise of third-party delivery services like Caviar, Postmates, UberEats, it means you can easily start delivering without incurring the cost of establishing a separate infrastructure for it but they are nowhere close to coming to Utah. Whereas Utah has a more reliable and cost-effective solution of its own now! PigeonShip, a crowdsourced delivery service for restaurants.

I have been a foodie all my life. In my foodie journey, I have realized that the best food is never served in big MNCs but in little household restaurants which put in extra effort to go the extra mile when it comes to customer service. Most of the times they are unable to compete with MNCs because of lack of restaurant delivery service and online presence.

Do you need a Restaurant Delivery Service?

A delivery service for restaurants or a third party delivery service enables a restaurant to start food delivery service in a much more convenient and cost-effective way. Instead of the restaurant hiring, insuring and buying vehicles for its own delivery fleet, a centralized service — the RDS — manages the delivery process. PigeonShip’s Restaurant Delivery Service works in a unique way. A person places a paid takeaway order at any restaurant of his/her choice and gets the food item PigeonShipped (Delivered) to them. PigeonShip also promises a 2-hour delivery.
Utah has never seen a food delivery service so convenient that a restaurant can install in its everyday processes in not more than 10 minutes.

Suggested business models while implementing PigeonShip’s Delivery Service can be: free delivery if the order amount is above $35 otherwise it is just $10 delivery fee. There can be other innovations to the pricing model depending upon a restaurant’s choice.

Determining whether the restaurant can do delivery on its own, or it needs an RDS to provide delivery or the possibility of a delivery service comes down to a key metric of delivery cost: Dollars per delivery mile. In areas of high population density, the dollars per delivery mile is low enough that a restaurant can do delivery by itself and that too earning profits while doing it. In areas with a medium density or low density, instead of building a food delivery service of its own a restaurant should use a more cost-effective formula by using an external delivery service for restaurants like PigeonShip. This is why PigeonShip is a great success in Provo, Logan, Ogden, Orem and Salt Lake region of the Utah state where the population density is not as high as in New York or Chicago.

Going digital

Restaurant brands that are interested in unlocking their market potential firstly need to go digital by building online ordering platforms. This provides a more convenient way of reaching out to potential customer segment who are not aware of your restaurant and also making the service much easier for the existing ones. Moreover, it is much easier and cost-effective to spread the word about your USP or Recipe online than anywhere else.

Salt Lake City — (KUTV) Utah-based company PigeonShip is the future of shipping and delivery. Founder, Jared Overton, visited Fresh Living to talk about the company.

PigeonShip is introducing a new service that has never existed: Peer to peer pickup and delivery. It helps in many ways such as:

When you forget something and don’t have time to pick it up.
When you need something picked up and delivered same day.
If your favorite restaurant doesn’t deliver, PigeonShip will get it for you.
When you have an odd sized or fragile item.
The local Nordstroms has the shoes you want. You want them for tonight. You buy them and have them delivered to you saving you the time and hassle to pick them up.
What about businesses? Imagine all Utah Businesses that ship stuff. They are conditioned to pay the big postal companies big dollars for this service. Every business should be using PigeonShip for these reasons:

PigeonShip currently has a bigger fleet in Utah than UPS, approaching 2000 drivers.
Saves big dollars.
It’s faster and more reliable
Shipping dollars are redistributed in the pockets of locals.
Green effect. Using vehicles already in transit reduces carbon footprint.
Same day, Weekend, Holiday delivery.
Pigeons (deliverers) are simply local qualified residents that have 9-5 jobs and commute daily. PigeonShip allows them to earn extra income to and from work, picking up and delivering items for these companies.

Fresh Living viewers can enjoy their first delivery free during the month of November with code FRESHLIVING.

TECH NEWS: Utah remains top choice for piloting new tech. First, Google. Now, PigeonShip.

Google recently chose Utah to try Google Fiber. The Utah beta trend continues as PigeonShip–one of the most revolutionary and exciting new concepts–takes flight in Utah. The Uber-like concept allows businesses to ship locally faster and cheaper than they would with FedEx, UPS and other carriers, and provides a way for commuters (Pigeons) to earn extra cash on their drive.

PigeonShip’s network has already expanded to include thousands of Pigeons who are standing by for pick-up and drop-off of shipments, documents and even household items transacted through KSL classifieds.

But, it’s not just a delivery option for business transactions. “People are finding everyday use out of the platform,” says Jared Overton, Founder and CEO. “Many people use PigeonShip to retrieve personal items that they’ve left at relative’s homes in places like Idaho Falls and Las Vegas.” Rather than shipping the item with FedEx or UPS, people who use PigeonShip are retrieving their items the same day at a much lower cost, according to Overton.

For many Utah residents, the most innovative and exciting way to use the PigeonShip platform is to deploy it as a delivery option to some of Utah’s favorite eateries, like Café Rio, Zupas and other popular chains.

PigeonShip is currently serving Salt Lake City and is expanding rapidly into Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boise and Denver.

new

1. Delivery Fees are Generally Reasonable.

You can save time, gas and energy. Pigeon Ship offers a fast and reliable delivery service at a low cost!

2. It saves time.

A trip to the grocery store is not a priority if you’re pressed for time. By using a grocery delivery service, you never have to go in a store, and means more time for  family bonding, work, and even some “Me” time.

3. Online Specials are Available.

Score great deals with online specials that store shoppers can’t get. And instead of waiting in line to buy items on Sale, it’s just a single click of a button to take advantage of the best online deals.

4. Impulsive Buying is reduced.

When you’re at the grocery store, sometimes you can’t help yourself to be tempted on an item that is not urgently needed. Maybe because it is on sale or discounted, you will think it is worth it. But in reality, it’s not. Impulse buys can ruin even the most planned solid grocery budget.
